South Pass Road Failure Repair

This project was substantially completed on 9/29/16 and physically completed on 10/3/16

Emergency Weight Restriction of 12 tons between Frost Road and North Pass Road is no longer in effect.

Due to roadway damage from slope movement on South Pass Road, Whatcom County was awarded $750,000 in Federal Emergency Relief funds in September 2015 to repair the roadway.

This project was awarded to Granite Construction Company in the amount of $429,651.25.

The project begins about 1/4 mile east of North Pass Road/South Pass Road intersection and continues eastward on South Pass Road for approximately 750-ft. The roadway repair will consist of slope stabilization and safety measures. This will include rebuilding the roadway with geogrid wraps, guardrail, and drainage improvements.

Construction is anticipated to begin August 17, 2016 and take approximately 6 weeks to complete, weather dependent. A minimum of one-lane, flagged traffic will be maintained throughout the project limits.
