Portal Way / Dakota Creek Bridge #500

Project Background
Portal Way Dakota Creek Bridge No. 500 is a 335 foot 7-span concrete bridge constructed in 1928. Due to irregularities noted in the annual bridge condition inspections, Whatcom County initiated a structural assessment of the bridge in 2010. The results of the structural assessment are contained in the Bridge 001 and Bridge 500 Assessment Report (BergerABAM, 2010). The assessment identified significant seismic risks to the structural and conceptual designs of various retrofit measures.
