Inventory Management - Central Stores 

Equipment Services, through the Central Stores operation, is responsible for a wide variety of equipment, supplies, tools, and other items necessary to the everyday operation of the various Whatcom County divisions and departments including the Sheriff's Department, Parks and Recreation and the Public Works Road Crew.
Snow Plow
Construction Materials
  • Supplies gravel, pit run, culverts, and other construction materials used by Public Works Maintenance and Operations. 
  • Rock and gravel is available through the Pits and Quarries operation.
  • Provides immediate access to the materials necessary to complete road maintenance projects in a timely fashion.
  • Quick access allows for the least impact on county residents and visitors as well as minimum cost to county taxpayers.
Equipment Services' Central Stores
  • Procures all the tires, brakes, and other items necessary to maintain the county fleet in working order. 
  • Outfits the Sheriff's vehicles with lights, side panel striping, and other necessary equipment. 
Materials Usage
  • All material usage is reported through item tickets and waybills to Central Stores for inventory control.
  • Central Stores inventory subject to annual state audits for accountability.
  • Coordinates with Whatcom County Administrative Services, Finance Division Purchasing, for appropriate bid executions. 
  • Equipment Services also prepares a number of other contracts for a variety of services related to the Central Shop.
Shop & Stores
Distributes supplies and equipment to the road crew on a daily basis including: 
  • Shovels and other hand tools
  • Safety equipment such as vests and road signs,
  • Culverts, catch basins, and other road construction materials from the outside yard.
