Licensing Division - Vehicles

 

Canadian Vehicles

The following documents are required:

  • The previously issued original registration certificate.
  • A U.S. Customs clearance document when vehicle is brought into the country.
  • An Odometer Reading if the vehicle is less than 10 years old.
  • A release of interest (bill of sale) is ownership is changing.
  • A dealer sales agreement if bought from a dealer.

Leased Vehicle From Out of State

Leased vehicles must have:

  • The Certificate of Title or copy of the Certificate of Title.
  • The uniform business identifier (UBI) number and your lease contract.
  • An Odometer Reading if the vehicle is less than 10 years old.

New Washington Resident Vehicles

You are required to register your vehicle within 30 days of becoming a Washington State Resident.  You will need the following:

  • The Certificate of Title.  If there is a lien on the vehicle (car loan), we will need a photocopy of the Certificate of Title.  The lienholder can also fax a copy of the Certificate of Title to our office at (360) 738-4556.
  • An Odometer Reading if the vehicle is less than 10 years old.
  • Proof of sales tax paid is required on all recreational and commercial vehicles.  If proof is not available, use tax will be collected on the fair market value of the vehicle.
  • If scale weight is not listed on the out-of-state Certificate of Title or registration, a certified weight slip is needed.
