A labyrinth of trails can be found in the Chuckanut Mountains
located just south of Bellingham. You will find great views
of Mount Baker, Bellingham Bay, and more. Whatcom County Parks & Recreation has joined with Larrabee State Park, Bellingham Parks and the Department of Natural Resources to manage interconnecting trails on 8,000 acres of publicly
owned land.
Whatcom County Parks & Recreation
trails are easily accessible from the Pine & Cedar
Lakes Trailhead and the North Chuckanut Mountain Trailhead.

North Chuckanut Mountain Trailhead
Take I-5 Exit 250 and follow Old Fairhaven Parkway/SR 11 west 1.3 miles to 12th Street in Old Fairhaven. Turn left and follow Chuckanut Drive/SR 11 south 1.5 miles to trailhead parking area on the left.
Pine & Cedar Lakes Trailhead
Take I-5 Exit 250 and follow Old Fairhaven Parkway/SR 11 west 0.1 miles to 30th Street. Turn left on 30th St for 0.9 miles to Old Samish Road. Turn left on Old Samish Road for 1.3 miles to trailhead parking area on the right.
WTA Route 105 provides access to the Interurban Trail on Old Fairhaven Parkway, 2 miles north of the North Chuckanut Mountain Trailhead.
Chuckanut Ridge Trail

An awesome meandering trail along the ridge

From North Chuckanut Mountain Trailhead, hike 1.2 miles up Hemlock Trail to the North Lost Lake intersection. Then hike 1 mile up N. Lost Lake Trail to where the 3-mile long Chuckanut Ridge Trail begins. Total hiking distance is about 5.2 miles one-way.
This moderate hike connects the front side
trails (Cleator
Road) to the back side trails (North Lost Lake).
South Chuckanut Mountain and Blanchard Hill
Larrabee State Park and the Department of Natural Resources
(DNR) manage many more miles of trails south of Whatcom County
Parks' trails. Refer to the Chuckanut Mountain System Brochure/Map,
