Location
The Jail is located in
the Public Safety Building at corner of Central and Prospect Streets,
opposite the entrance to Sheriff's Office. Jail entrance is off
Central Street, in between Prospect Street and Grand Avenue. See
Map.

Due to Whatcom County Executive ordered budgetary cuts, Jail lobby and visitation hours have been changed to the following:
Main Jail Lobby Hours
8:00 A.M. to 1200 P.M
12:00 P.M. to 1: 00 P.M. Closed for lunch
1:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.
Bail may be posted 24 hours a day via the Jail lobby kiosk after hours. To access the lobby after hours - push the after hours button next to the Jails main entrance.
Visiting Inmates
Each inmate is allotted 1, one-hour visit per week. Adult visitors must have current picture ID.
Picture ID must include full name and date of birth. Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian, unless they are coming to visit a parent. Unaccompanied minors visiting their parent must present a copy of their birth certificate.
Persons entering the Jail for visitation or other any other purpose are subject to search.
Visiting will not be allowed between individuals when it is known that a current no-contact or restraining order exists.
Inmates and/or visitors who violate Jail regulations or Washington State law during a visit may have their visit terminated, lose the privilege of visiting and/or be subject to arrest.
Interim Work Center Visiting Hours
Visiting Hours (Main Jail)
Visiting hours are based on the inmate's housing assignment in the jail. Inmates are responsible for informing visitors of their housing assignment. Refer to the Jail Roster for inmate housing assignment.
Due to budgetary cuts, Jail visiting hours has changed to the following:
Saturday
8:00 – 11:00 a.m.: Third Floor and1st Floor, All Women
1:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Second Floor Units 2A, 2B & 2C
Sunday
8:00 – 11:00 a.m.: Third Floor and1st Floor, All Women
1:00 – 4:00 p.m.: Second Floor 2D, 2E & 2F
Kitchen Inmate Workers
Kitchen inmate workers may visit at any of the above visiting hours in which the kitchen inmate worker is not scheduled to work.
