Wildlife Advisory Committee

Purpose

The Wildlife Advisory Committee advises the Whatcom County Planning and Development Services Department and Public Works Department staff and the Whatcom County Council on the value of wildlife and habitat management issues as they relate to the Whatcom County Comprehensive Plan, with the goal of integrating wildlife management and protection into the community planning process.

Meetings 

  • The committee generally meets 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. on the second Friday of the month. Special meetings are held as necessary.
  • Meetings are open to the public. Community members who attend may provide public comment on issues related to wildlife and habitat in Whatcom County.

Specifications

Seven of the 11 members will have technical expertise in wildlife and habitat management or current or past professional experience such as, but not limited to, at least one of the following: wetlands manager, wildlife biologist, conservation biologist, natural resources manager, watershed scientist, ecological restoration specialist, forestry protection, and tribal representative.
