Clean water is essential for protecting the health of people, livestock, fish and shellfish. A watershed is an area of land where all of the water drains to a common point, such as Drayton Harbor, Birch Bay, Bellingham Bay, or Chuckanut Bay. Activities in our watershed affect the water quality of streams, rivers, and bays.
Think of all of the people and animals living in Whatcom County. They all poop! This means we have a lot of poop, and its associated pathogens, to keep out of our waterways. The good news is there are small actions each of us can take to help prevent poop from entering our community’s waterways.
