At the encouragement of local citizens, the Whatcom County council requested that the County Executive form a citizen group to explore strategies for the preservation of our natural heritage. The Whatcom County Natural Heritage Task Force was formed. On July 2, 1991 the County Council approved Resolution No. 91-044 "A Resolution in the Matter of Endorsing The Natural Heritage Plan and Goals of Whatcom County"
