Northshore Drive / Edgewater Lane Stormwater Improvements

Project Description


The Lake Whatcom Comprehensive Stormwater Plan identifies the area surrounding Edgewater Lane as an area for stormwater improvements. This project will provide water quality improvements by constructing a stormwater vault and new storm pipe to reduce phosphorus loading of Lake Whatcom. This new stormwater vault will be approximately 8-ft x 12-ft and the new 18" stormwater pipe extending approximately 600 feet along Northshore Drive.

Project Schedule


The project was awarded to Colacurcio Brothers, Inc. through a competitive bid process in the amount of $251,613.67. Construction will begin August 10, 2020 and continue for approximately five weeks, weather dependent.

Traffic will often be reduced to one lane along Northshore Drive, with flagged traffic control. Working hours will be approximately 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Motorists should expect minor delays.

This past week, Colacurcio Brothers, Inc. installed all remaining stormwater pipe and completed rebuilding the concrete garden structure along Edgewater Lane. They will be installing hydro seeding this week and final project cleanup. This project will be completed by the end of this week.

This past week, Colacurcio Brothers, Inc. installed approximately 250 feet of stormwater pipe and several catch basins along Northshore Drive. They will continue installing the final 50 feet of stormwater pipe along Northshore Drive and begin paving during the week of September 8, 2020.

Project Update 8.31.20


This past week, Colacurcio Brothers, Inc. installed approximately 200 feet of stormwater pipe and several catch basins around the new stormwater treatment vault and along Northshore Drive. They will continue installing about 300 feet of stormwater pipe along Northshore Drive during the week of August 31, 2020.

​Project Update 8.24.20


This past week, Colacurcio Brothers, Inc. installed a large stormwater treatment vault along Northshore Drive and began installing stormwater pipe between Northshore Drive and Edgewater Lane. They will continue installing about 500 feet of stormwater pipe along Northshore Drive during the week of August 24, 2020.

​Project Update 8.17.20


Colacurcio Brother, Inc. started construction on Monday, August 10, 2020. This past week, their work included setting up erosion control, saw cutting pavement, verifying underground utility locations, tree removal, and excavation for the new stormwater treatment vault. The new stormwater treatment is anticipated to be placed on Tuesday, August 18, 2020
