Construction was completed in August of 2021, and planting was completed in 2022. The project consisted of installing woody habitat structures and engineered log jams to increase habitat value and arrest ongoing erosion.
Project Overview:
During the winter of 2014-2015, rip rap protecting the river’s left bank scoured out in the vicinity of Abbott Road and Levee. Since then, the bank has eroded approximately 150 feet. Prior to this project, erosion eliminated much of the existing habitat and vegetation and threatened the stability of the Abbott Levee.
