Eviction Resolution Pilot Program

 In light of Washington Engrossed Second Substitute Senate Bill 5160 (E2SSB 5160), Whatcom County Superior Court announces the creation of the Whatcom County Eviction Resolution Pilot Program (ERPP).  The ERPP operates pursuant to Standing Order, in cooperation with the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center, and requires housing providers and tenants to mediate non-payment of rent disputes prior to seeking court intervention.  

As of 8 am on October 1, 2021, the Whatcom County Eviction Resolution Pilot Program, delivered through the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center is operational as described in Governor Inslee's June 29, 2021, Proclamation 21-09

Indigent Tenant Right to Counsel   

Prior to filing an Unlawful Detainer action for nonpayment of rent, housing providers and tenants must participate in the ERPP, including the provision of required Notices and the filing of a Dispute Resolution Certificate of Participation.
