Scott Schmidt

Scott Schmidt joined the Whatcom County Public Defender in 2021, and is currently a Deputy II Public Defender representing adult clients charged with felonies in Whatcom County Superior Court. He graduated from New York University School of Law in 1998. His previous experience as an attorney includes sixteen years working as a public defender in King County, where he rotated through caseloads representing clients in juvenile, district and superior courts. 

Scott has also previously worked as a public defender in Island and San Juan Counties, as an Assistant City Attorney in Oak Harbor, and in private practice. Prior to entering law school, Scott earned a B.S. degree in Physics/Math from Western Washington University.
