WCEMS Levy 2023-2028 Info

This is the information page for the WCEMS 2023-2028 Levy. Funds from this levy are intended to support and where appropriate, expand Fire System Based Emergency Medicine to meet increasing and expanding community needs. The WCEMS 2023-2028 Levy planning has been in development since late 2020 with support and guidance from the Emergency Oversight Board (EOB), which provided centralized oversight, with input from the Technical Advisory Board (TAB) and Finance Committee. The Levy Planning Committee is composed of representatives from all across the system, ranging from labor organizations, local governments, training organizations, fire districts and fire commissioners, hospitals, and county and city council representatives.

On July 26, 2022, Whatcom County Council approved placing a 6-year, 29.5 cents per $1,000 AV rate levy on the November 8, 2022 general election ballot.

WCEMS is a complex, coordinated response and emergency medical care system that requires multiple people and agencies, with each one having an essential role as part of a coordinated, tiered, and seamless system of emergency medical care.
