Public Transparency

In 2021 the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office began a project to collect and analyze new data streams related to our use of force, vehicular pursuits, traffic stops, and citizen complaints with the goal of being better equipped to respond to requests for information related to the social justice movement and demands for police accountability.

In 2022 the project goal was expanded to include periodic reporting of this information to the public, and in 2023 this Public Transparency page went live with quarterly reporting of this information.

The Office of Professional Standards (OPS) is responsible for establishing data collection methods and standards, and for the analysis and reporting of the data.  Questions regarding these reports should be directed to OPS at [email protected].
