Starting January 2019 Whatcom County Parks & Recreation will begin reconstruction of the Maple Creek Campground at Silver Lake Park. The campground improvement project will include reconstruction and widening of campground roads and shoulders, installing new drainage improvements, installing new water and electrical service pedestals at RV campsites, making upgrades to individual campsites, and installation of directional signage.
The construction project is anticipated to be completed in the summer of 2019. Maple Creek Campground will be closed during the construction project. Camping is still available at Red Mountain Campground and Cedar Campground. For the duration of the project, Group Camp will also be utilized as overflow camping and can be reserved for individual campers by calling the Whatcom County Parks and Recreation office at (360) 778-5850.
What to expect:
- Maple Creek Campground will be closed to the public
- Construction noise and vibration
- Temporary road closures
- Heavy equipment traffic
- Flaggers will be on-site when necessary to insure safety of workers and park visitors
- Construction work hours: Daily, 7:00am – 7:00pm
- Trail closures through Maple Creek Campground
