[ARCHIVED] MMR Vaccine Clinic May 4 in Kendall

Whatcom County Health Department is partnering with PeaceHealth Pediatrics to host a MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination clinic on Saturday, May 4th at the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center at 8251 Kendall Road, Maple Falls from 10:30am - 2:30pm. The clinic is for both children and adults.

Vaccines are available for people with or without medical insurance.

  • For people without insurance, there is no cost for the vaccine.
  • Please bring a copy of your insurance card if you are insured so that your insurance company can be billed.

Who should get the MMR vaccine?

Children - The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends all children get two doses of MMR (measles-mumps-rubella) vaccine. The first dose should be given at 12 through 15 months of age, and the second dose at 4 through 6 years of age. Children can receive the second dose earlier as long as it is at least 28 days after the first dose.

MMR vaccine is given later than some other childhood vaccines because antibodies transferred from the mother to the baby can provide some protection from disease and make the MMR vaccine less effective until about 1 year of age.

Students at post-high school educational institutions - Students at post-high school educational institutions who do not have evidence of immunity need two doses of MMR vaccine, separated by at least 28 days.

Adults - Adults who do not have evidence of immunity should get at least one dose of MMR vaccine.

Evidence of Immunity includes at least one of the following

  • Written documentation of adequate vaccination
  • Laboratory evidence of immunity
  • Laboratory confirmation of measles
  • Birth before 1957
