WHATCOM COUNTY JUSTICE UPDATES

Whatcom County Council Member Barry Buchanan and Whatcom County Prosecutor Eric Richey hosting evening for community dialogue

Bellingham, WA, September 6, 2019 – Whatcom County Councilmember Barry Buchanan invites community members to attend a meeting for Whatcom County Justice updates.

The agenda for the evening will include updates from Prosecutor Eric Richey. Councilmember Barry Buchanan plans to share an overview on the recently released plan for Public Health and Public Safety and provide updates on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee of the County Council. Heather Flaherty and Arlene Feld will attend to discuss their involvement as the Citizen Representatives of the Whatcom County Incarceration Prevention and Reduction Task Force. Attendees at the event will be given the opportunity to ask questions and engage in dialogue with the presenters.

“Hearing from community members is essential to planning for criminal justice and the intent in hosting this meeting is to create an opportunity where policy-makers can hear from our community about what they are caring about, concerned about, or have questions about,” says Barry Buchanan, Whatcom County Council Member. “The interest in public safety and public health in our community has been encouraging and we are hoping for a big turn-out. We have exciting updates to share and want to get input from the community.” says Eric Richey, Whatcom County Prosecutor.

This meeting is scheduled for Monday, September 23, 2019, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., in the Whatcom County Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, WA 98225. All community members interested are invited to attend.
