[ARCHIVED] Persons needed to write Creation of Ferndale Park District For and Against Statements

The County Auditor seeks applicants to write the voter pamphlet pro and con statements and rebuttals for Ferndale Proposition 2015-1 for the Creation of Ferndale Metropolitan Park District.

The City of Ferndale is proposing this Proposition, and has identified one person to write the argument for and one person to write the argument against the proposition. The Auditor is looking for an additional one or two people for each argument to create a committee to write the statements.

Proposition 2015-1 proposes a Metropolitan Park District with the city limits as the boundaries of the park. The Ferndale City Council will serve as the District’s Board of Commissioners ex officio. The Council adopted Resolution No. 15-04-06-B setting the levy rate at 50 cents per $1,000 assessed value upon voter approval. This would generate about $581,000 annually to fund projects like the pool feasibility study, Star Park, and Pioneer Park main stage.

When appointed, committees must submit their initial statements to the County Auditor by Monday, August 17. The rebuttal statements are due to the Auditor by Thursday, August 20.

To volunteer for a committee please call or e-mail the County Auditor’s Office by Thursday, August 13, at (360) 778-5102 or [email protected]. Please provide your name, what committee you are volunteering for, and your contact information, including phone number and e-mail address. If appointed, name and contact information will be shared with other committee members.
