[ARCHIVED] Severe Weather Shelters to Open Thanksgiving Night

Severe weather shelters will open for the night of November 28 to add space for people experiencing homelessness who are seeking shelter. The following shelters will be open on Thursday, November 28:

  • Fountain Community Church – 2100 Broadway
    • Doors open at xxxx.
    • Check in on-site at FCC.
  • ADD OTHER SHELTERS IF AVAILABLE, with opening times and check-in info.
  • Shelter is also available at the Lighthouse Mission Ministries Drop-In Center.

Severe weather shelters open when there is an overnight low of 28 degrees Fahrenheit or lower and existing shelters are at or near capacity. The predicted low for the night of November 28 is XX, and we expect Lighthouse Mission Ministries Drop-In Center to be near capacity.

The Civic Stadium Women's Winter Shelter will open on Friday, November 29, with space for up to 40 women. This will create additional capacity at the LMM Drop-In Center through the weekend.

To get up-to-date shelter information, call the Emergency Winter Shelter Hotline at (360) 788-7983 or www.whatcomcounty.us/homelessshelter
