Portions of Northwest Drive and Slater Road will be repaved soon as part of a project that will also replace a culvert on Northwest that will completely close the road. We expect the project to officially start Thursday, Aug 20. That’s when our contractor, Granite, will begin staging equipment and making site preparations. Here’s an overview of what to expect in the next few weeks:
- Northwest will close to all traffic on Monday, Aug 24, for the culvert replacement portion of the project. We expect the closure to last until at least Sep. 11. We will pave Northwest immediately after the closure. During the paving portion, drivers should expect delays but no additional closures.
- Crack seal road repair work will happen during the road closure. Getting both aspects of the project done at the same time will help us minimize the impact to drivers. We will still have some traffic control and flaggers when needed.
- Slater Road paving between Pacific Highway and Northwest while Northwest is closed. This could impact drivers exiting I-5 at Slater Road who want to go east.
- We expect this Slater Road paving work to be underway the week of Labor Day, so drivers heading out for the holiday weekend should plan accordingly.
