[ARCHIVED] Corrections Made to Vaccine Update 1/26/21

We made an error in data reporting in our Vaccine Update newsflash published on Jan. 26. We mistakenly reported that 11,796 doses of COVID-19 vaccine had been given to Whatcom County residents. However, that number actually represents the number of doses given by Whatcom County vaccine providers. Some of the people who received those doses may not live in Whatcom County.

The following corrections were made using our most recent data:

Providers in Whatcom County are due to receive 1,700 first doses this week, bringing Whatcom County’s total allotment of first doses from the state to 13,850. As of Jan. 25, providers in Whatcom County have administered 11,998 COVID-19 vaccines. Data for doses given comes from the Washington Dept. of Health’s Data Dashboard and is based on the location where vaccines were administered, which could include doses given to residents of other counties.

This information was originally written as follows:

Providers in Whatcom County are due to receive 1,700 first doses this week, bringing Whatcom County’s total allotment of first doses from the state to 13,500. As of Jan. 23, 11,796 doses have been given to Whatcom County residents. Data for doses given comes from the Washington Dept. of Health’s Data Dashboard and is based on the vaccine recipient’s county of residence.

We strive for accuracy in all of our data reporting and will communicate any mistakes made as soon as we learn about them.
