Winter Storm warning until 4:00pm today; Small Craft Advisory until 1:00pm this afternoon. Temperature will slowly warm up over the next several days with lighter east winds. Highs will climb to around 40 by Monday; lows in the 30s tomorrow night.

Active Incidents
The U.S. and Canada have extended an order closing their shared border to nonessential traffic until at least February 21, 2021. This includes both vehicular and boating between the countries.
The “Proclamation of Emergency” signed by the Whatcom County Executive concerning COVID-19 remains in effect. Information about Whatcom County’s response to COVID-19 is available at the Joint Information Center’s COVID-19 website.

A "Small Craft Advisory" in effect until 1:00pm today with east winds 20-30 mph.
A “Winter Storm Warning" in effect until 4:00pm today. One to five inches of total accumulation during this warning possible
Weather Around Whatcom County
Whatcom County Inland Weather
Temperatures continue to warm up slowly and by Monday will reach the low 40s. Lows during the evening will gradually climb to the low to mid-30s by Monday night. Winds will continue to decrease as the day progresses. By Monday, snow showers will end and we could start to see rain or rain showers. Highs on Tuesday could reach mid-40s by Tuesday. Higher elevations will continue to see lower temperatures by 5-10 degrees. Key concerns include snow packed roads which will impact traction on the roads. Any wind could cause some slight drifting behind buildings or shelterbelts which may not be readily visible. As temperatures rise over the next several days, any melting could refreeze when temperatures drop below the freezing level creating hazardous driving conditions. Slowing down will assist in maintaining vehicle control
Rivers and Streams
There really is nothing affecting the Nooksack River Level at this time. The Nooksack may come up a foot or two in about five days (17th or 18th of Feb) due to some precipitation but it will have no impact.
Whatcom County Coastal Weather
For the Strait and Inland Coastal Waters off Whatcom County we will continue to see wind velocities cross into Small Craft Advisory levels. Directionally, winds will continue from the east today but switch to the southeast. Continue to monitor marine weather for actual timing of the advisories.
