More rain forecast with some breaks in clouds today; steady rain begins tomorrow. Highs mid 40s; lows, mid to upper 30s. Southerly winds with gust to 35 mph north coastal areas Saturday night and Sunday. River level up on Mon/Tue but no flooding.

Active Incidents
The U.S. and Canada have extended an order closing their shared border to nonessential traffic until at least February 21, 2021. This includes both vehicular and boating between the countries.
The “Proclamation of Emergency” signed by the Whatcom County Executive concerning COVID-19 remains in effect. Information about Whatcom County’s response to COVID-19 is available at the Joint Information Center’s COVID-19 website.
Advisories, Watches and Warnings
A “Winter Weather Advisory” is in effect until 1:00 pm this afternoon. Additional snow accumulations of up to eight inches are possible. This includes the Mt Baker Ski Area.
Weather Around Whatcom County
Whatcom County Inland Weather
From time to time today, we’ll have breaks in the clouds where the sun can shine through, but it won’t last. There is more rain on the way with the steady rain coming this weekend. Temperatures continue to reach into the mid-40s while the lows will stay in the upper 30s for the lower areas of Whatcom County while the higher elevations can expect temperatures 5-10 degrees colder. Winds will increase tomorrow night into Sunday generally from the south gusting to around 30 mph or higher in the Blaine area. Point Roberts will see south/southeast wind gusts near 35 mph. Newhalem will see a chance for some snow over the next several days; accumulations could range between four and nine inches.
Rivers and Streams
With the rain continuing into next week, all forks of the Nooksack River will rise substantially over current levels. They will remain below flood level, but expect a rapid rise beginning Monday and then just as quick a drop on Tuesday.
Whatcom County Coastal Weather
For the Strait and Inland Coastal Waters off Whatcom County winds today will stay under 20 knots from the south with wind waves of one to three feet. Tonight look for southeast winds dropping to 5-15 knots after midnight. Tomorrow, winds will begin from the west and then switch to the southwest 10-20 knots. Saturday night, wind form the south/southeast will increase to 20-30 knots with wind waves of three to five feet. These winds will continue into Sunday night. Small Craft Advisories are likely to be issued sometime tomorrow, monitor marine weather.
