Weather Around Whatcom County

Whatcom County Inland Weather

There will be a slight chance of a shower today for most areas of the county with highs around 50s degrees.  South winds will stay under 10mph. Tonight will see partly cloudy skies with lows in the mid-30s; tomorrow will be few degrees cooler but skies will be mostly sunny.  Wind will be from the north/northwest less than 10mph. Point Roberts will see similar temperatures but the wind will be from the east at around 15mph today, northwest tonight at 5mph and then picking up to 10-15 mph tomorrow.  Maple Falls may or may not see some rain/snow mixtures as the snow level will drop to about 1300 feet tonight. Low temperatures tonight for Maple Falls will be around 32 degrees so a degree or two either way can make all the difference in the type of precipitation that falls. Caution says drive careful as the chance for slush or slick spots is real.  Newhalem has a better chance of the rain/snow mixtures due to cooler temperatures today and below freezing temperatures tonight.  Looking forward, temperatures around the county will be around 50 degrees for highs and mid 30s for lows; the next chance for rain looks like Friday for north county and then spreading south overnight..

Rivers and Streams

The Nooksack River level continue to drop ever so slowly with the rain coming Frida and Saturday causing just a small increase in river level and flow.

Whatcom County Coastal Weather

For the Strait and Inland Coastal Waters off Whatcom County, southeast winds 15-25 knots along with two to four-foot wind waves will switch to the southwest tonight and drop to 5-10 knots and wind waves of two feet or less.  After midnight winds will switch to the northwest and remain at 5-15 knots with wind waves of two feet or less.
