Advisories, Watches and Warnings

A “Small Craft Advisory” will go into effect from 10:00pm this evening until 7:00am tomorrow morning for northeast winds 15-25 knots.

Weather Around Whatcom County

Whatcom County Inland Weather

While there are clouds around at the moment, they will burn off as the day goes on and we should have mostly sunny skies.  Winds should remain fairly light and the temperature will top out near 50 degrees.  With mostly clear skies tonight, the low will drop down to the freezing level or below.  Frost on bridges, along the sides or roads, and sheltered areas will make for slick spots that could cause vehicle control issues if going too fast. Tomorrow will be sunny with highs once again around 50 degrees and light northwest wind. Point Roberts will not be quite as warm and clouds, while decreasing throughout the day will linger.  The wind will be from the northeast and switch to the northwest with some gusts near 21 mph. Tonight north/northwest winds continue with some guss as high as 25 mph. Tomorrow should be sunny in Point Roberts. Blaine will see northeast wind gusts to 21 mph tonight.   Sumas still has a chance for a shower this morning, slight as it may be with mostly clear skies tonight. Newhalem still has a slight chance of a rain/snow mixture but that to will decrease as will the clouds.  Temperatures will be about 1o degrees cooler.

Rivers and Streams

The Nooksack River level will hold steady until we get to Sunday or Monday when we may see it come up 6-12 inches due to some rain over the weekend, but this will cause no concerns from a high water perspective.

Whatcom County Coastal Weather

For the Strait and Inland Coastal Waters off Whatcom County, northwest winds will increase this evening to 15-25 knots accompanied by two to four foot wind waves. The winds are predicted to decrease to 10 knots from the north in the afternoon. Tomorrow night the wind will shift to the south but remain at about 10 knots with two foot waves.
