Vaccine Data

Providers in Whatcom County are due to receive 5,710 first doses and 5,180 second doses COVID-19 vaccine for the week of March 15th. 

As of March 13, 48,311 Whatcom County residents have received their first dose and 23,629 have been fully vaccinated.

Phase 1B Tier 2 Eligible March 17

Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 17, Individuals in Phase 1B Tier 2 will be eligible to be vaccinated in Washington State. They can make appointments to be vaccinated at any vaccine provider. This includes the following people:

• High-risk workers in certain settings, such as grocery stores, food processing facilities, public transit, agriculture, and more. 
• People age 16+ who are pregnant or who have a disability that puts them at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

People who are already eligible in Phase 1A and 1B Tier 1 are still eligible. If you are eligible to be vaccinated, you remain eligible and should make an appointment as soon as possible. 

If you’re not yet eligible, please be patient! Your turn will come. Vaccine production is increasing and we have the capacity to move quickly once there’s enough vaccine supply.

Community Vaccination Center Update

Just under 400 people were vaccinated at the Community Vaccination Center on March 13. 

The next CVC clinic will be held on Saturday, March 20 from 9 am to 1 pm. Eligible folks can make an appointment starting Wednesday, March 17 at 9:30 a.m. Just as before, appointments can be made online at prepmod.doh.wa.gov. If you’ve had difficulty using PrepMod in the past, check out our PrepMod video tutorial, available in English and Spanish. 

If you don’t have access to the internet or you need other language assistance, you can also call 360-778-6075. Please do not call to make an appointment if you’re able to schedule online. Online scheduling is much faster, and our phone lines should be reserved for people who can’t use the internet. 

Whatcom County Vaccination Conversations

We are hosting a Whatcom Community Vaccination Conversation, formerly called Town Halls, on Thursday, March 18th  from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The event will be live streamed on Whatcom County’s YouTube channel. Several community healthcare providers will be in attendance, including Family Care Network, PeaceHealth, and Unity Care Northwest. We’ll be discussing vaccination efforts at each provider, and provide updates about the Community Vaccination Center at BTC.

• When: Thursday, March 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
• Who: Representatives from Family Care Network, PeaceHealth, and Unity Care Northwest, facilitated by the Whatcom County Health Department.
• Where: the event will be live streamed on Whatcom County’s YouTube Channel. 

National Guard Mobile Team Vaccinating High-Risk Whatcom County Residents

The Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and the Washington National Guard have partnered to bring a mobile vaccination team to Whatcom County, focusing on high-risk individuals with difficulty accessing other vaccine providers. 

The mobile team began its work in independent and senior living communities in Bellingham last week, and continues with clinics at Bellingham Housing Authority properties this week. Over this two-week period, the team will administer 900 doses at six different facilities. They will return to the same facilities to administer any second doses that are needed next month.

The doses administered by the National Guard are part of the total number allotted to the Whatcom County Health Department by DOH each week. We receive and store the vaccines until each clinic.

This program is an exciting partnership that’s bringing the COVID-19 vaccine right into the homes of some of our most vulnerable neighbors.
