The 2019 Foothills Food Summit

In 2019, the FCFP hosted the Foothills Food Summit, a convening of community members, partner organizations, and elected officials to have a conversation about food access and the food landscape in the Foothills region. Community members, partner organizations, and elected officials attended the Summit.

The themes that arose from those conversations at the Summit were used to develop the Foothills Food Access Plan. The comprehensive Food Access Plan was recently completed and reflects the research, community input, and discussions of visions and strategies from the Foothills Food Summit.

The Foothills Community Food Partnership

The Foothills Community Food Partnership (FCFP) was started in 2013 by a group of concerned Foothills community members and representatives from local organizations who shared goals of a healthy, integrated food access system for the Foothills region. The FCFP uses community input to improve food access and community resilience.

The small steering committee organizes community events, collaborates with partners, and supports other programming. The steering committee is currently made up of representatives from the Foothills Food Bank, Opportunity Council, WSU Whatcom County Extension, Whatcom County Health Department, and the Northwest Agricultural Business Center.

We look forward to seeing you on July 16!
