[ARCHIVED] Candidate Filing Week Information

Candidate filing week is May 16 – May 20; are you ready to file for office? Candidates are encouraged to visit the Auditor’s website at http://www.whatcomcounty.us/1730/Candidates for a list of offices up for election, filing fees, Declaration of Candidacy forms, and the 2016 Whatcom County Candidate Filing guide. The guide is a good resource for candidates from filing through post-election.

A Declaration of Candidacy can be filed online, in person, or by mail:

Online:

Starts at 9:00 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016
Ends at 4:00 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2016
File online at http://www.whatcomcounty.us/1891/File-for-Office

In Person:

Starts at 8:30 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016
Ends at 4:30 p.m., Friday, May 20, 2016
File in person at the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103, Bellingham.

Mail:

A candidate may send his or her Declaration of Candidacy, accompanied by the filing fee, beginning on Monday, May 2, 2016, to: Whatcom County Auditor’s Office, Election Division, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103, Bellingham, WA 98225.

Filings received by mail will be processed starting the Monday of filing week. Filings must be received in the Auditor’s Office on or before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016; any received after the deadline are invalid and will be returned to the applicant.
