Lummi Island Ferry to Return to Service on May 21, 2022

 

THE CHANGEOVER:

The Lummi Island Ferry, the Whatcom Chief, is scheduled to return to service on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at approximately 4:00 p.m.  This scheduled return to service date is contingent upon successful completion of the remaining shipyard repairs and sea trials.

On Friday, May 20, 2022 the passenger-only ferry will make all of its scheduled runs.  There will be no ferry service on Saturday, May 21, 2022 until the Whatcom Chief returns to service.  Please plan accordingly.

Both ferry docks will be unavailable for emergency use during this switchover while the dock modifications and floats are dismantled and removed.   

 

PARKING:

 

Supplemental parking areas at Gooseberry Point and Lummi Island:   In preparation of the Whatcom Chief returning, please remove parked vehicles that interfere with queuing and driving lanes on both Gooseberry Point and Lummi Island on Friday, May 20, 2022.   See Parking Maps AA (yellow highlighted area) and CC.

All cars need to be removed from all other supplemental dry dock parking areas on Gooseberry Point and Lummi Island by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.  Any vehicles left in the supplemental dry dock parking areas after Tuesday, May 24, 2022 will be towed at the owner’s expense.  No exceptions.

 

SHUTTLE VAN SERVICES:

The passenger shuttle van service will make all of its scheduled runs through Sunday, May 22, 2022.  There will be no shuttle van service on Monday, May 23, 2022 and thereafter.
