Whatcom County is back in the ‘Medium’ category on the CDC’s COVID-19 Community Level dashboard. Our case rates are increasing as we head into the long Memorial Day weekend. Take steps to reduce your risk and have a safer holiday:
- Wearing a mask is not required indoors, but it is still strongly recommended. Choose a higher-quality mask like an N95 or KN95 for the best protection.
- Physical distancing and good ventilation makes your weekend gathering safer. Outside is best.
- Stay up to date with your COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots. Being vaccinated (and boosted) reduces your risk of serious illness.
- If you are sick, stay home and take a COVID-19 test. Whether you have COVID-19 or some other illness, stay home and isolate yourself away from others. Remember that at-home COVID-19 tests may not detect very small amounts of the virus. If you get a negative test result on the first day that you feel sick, isolate yourself and test again in a day or two.
