Food System Plan Community Listening Session Saturday, July 24

Our Food System Committee is partnering with local nonprofits to host a community listening session from noon to 2pm this Sunday, July 24, at Shuksan Middle School. Come share your thoughts and opinions on what should be included in Whatcom County’s next food system plan. Topics include food access for everyone, climate resiliency, equity and justice in the food system, land and water protection, and more.

This event will include a free lunch, kids activities and festive music. ASL and Spanish interpreters will be on site. For more information about a food system plan, check out this handout: and for more information about the event, email

This event is hosted by the Whatcom County Health Department, Birchwood Food Desert Fighters and the Whatcom Food Network. It is funded and made possible through a partnership with the Sustainable Whatcom Fund of the Whatcom Community Foundation.
