Construction Begins on New Lummi Island Ferry Breakwater, No Regular Service Interruptions Expected

Whatcom County Public Works Lummi Island Breakwater Replacement project is now underway. This project replaces the southern breakwater at the Lummi Island terminal with a larger and longer breakwater. The upgrades will improve safety by offering better protection for the Whatcom Chief as it comes into the dock. No regular ferry service interruptions are expected as a result of the construction, scheduled to last through mid-October.

For questions or additional information, contact Whatcom County Public Works Engineering Division at 360-778-6210 or visit the project website: https://whatcomcounty.us/3990/Lummi-Island-Breakwater-Replacement-CRP-
