[ARCHIVED] FIre Marshal Burn Ban Reminder

With the current forecast of rain this weekend, Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding everyone that a Burn Ban is still in effect. The amount of predicted rain fall will not lessen the fire danger to the region. The weather forecast is calling for the temperatures to raise again following this weekend. In order for the burn ban to be lifted, the region will need several days of rain and cooler temperatures that we normally do not get until the end of September, early October.

Thank you for doing your part to prevent outdoor fires and wildfire. Recreational fires are still allowed in unincorporated Whatcom County with landowner’s permission. Check with State parks, National Forest Service, WC Fire districts, and private camping clubs for their rules prior to starting any recreational fire.

If you have any questions on open burning in unincorporated Whatcom County, please contact the Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office at 360-778-5900 or visit our website at:  http://www.whatcomcounty.us/381/Fire-Marshal.  You must phone the Outdoor Burning Information Line every time you burn in Whatcom County:  360-778-5903.
