Whatcom County Fire Marshal’s Office is reminding everyone that a Burn Ban is still in effect. Any small amount of predicted rain fall will not lessen the fire danger to the region. The weather forecast is calling for the temperatures remain high. In order for the burn ban to be lifted, the region will need several days of rain and cooler temperatures that we normally do not get until the end of September, early October.
Northwest Clean Air Agency has also issued a Burn Ban for Whatcom County due to wildfire smoke impacting local air quality. Please see the Northwest Clean Air Agency Release
Thank you for doing your part to prevent outdoor fires and wildfire. Check with State parks, National Forest Service, WC Fire districts, and private camping clubs for their rules prior to starting any recreational fire.
