Public Works - Road Closures and Restrictions

Posted on: May 12, 2023

[ARCHIVED] Single-Lane Closures for Nulle Road Bridge Project Will Resume July 5

6/26/23 UPDATE: After a procurement delay, construction will resume on the Nulle Road Bridge Project on Wednesday, July 5. The site will return to a one-lane traffic configuration, and temporary traffic lights will move vehicles thru the project site. Please expect delays if traveling in the area. We anticipate this project will wrap up in early August.

On Monday, May 15, Whatcom County Public Works will begin a short-term project to rehab Bridge No. 106 on Nulle Road, which crosses Friday Creek. The work will focus on strengthening the upper structure in order to remove the load restriction and will require single-lane closures for the project’s duration.
What can travelers expect?

  • The bridge will be restricted to one lane starting Monday, May 15.
  • Temporary traffic lights will be in place to help move vehicles across the bridge.
  • The project is scheduled for approximately one month, subject to weather delays.

Please use caution and allow yourself extra time if traveling thru this area. We appreciate your patience during construction.
