The Whatcom Chief is experiencing issues with the #1 end rudder (island side rudder) and was taken out of service as of 9 am this morning.

Mechanics have been dispatched from Whatcom County Public Works, and the Ferry Division has contacted Lake Union Dry Dock for assistance.

Until further discovery is made, we have suspended ferry service with no estimated repair time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
