Water Week offers many different family-friendly events throughout Whatcom County with opportunities to have fun, learn, and make a difference. Visit for a complete calendar of events and details. There’s something for everyone!

Activities include:

  • Run & Paddle- Run with the Chums 5K and kid’s sprint, Bellingham Bay Paddle and Scavenger Hunt
  • Guided Tours- Walk the Dock- Meet Your Fishermen, Bellingham Water Treatment Plant, Bellingham Wastewater Treatment Plant, Waterfront- Cleaning up Legacy Contamination, Lynden Water Treatment Plant, Padden Creek Fish Passage Projects
  • Self-guided Tours- Bellingham Stormwater Discovery, Lake Whatcom Story Walk
  • Forum & Training- Preparing for the Adjudication, Blue Drinks maritime and marine trades sector forum, Gardening Green Course
  • Wildlife Viewing- Family Field Day at Birch Bay State Park, Salish Sea Marine Habitat Collage, Wild Whatcom kid’s nature exploration and adult and queer nature walks, NSEA Salmon Sighting
  • Storytime- Bellingham Public Library Little Storytime and Time for Tales
  • Trivia- With Whatcom Working Waterfront Coalition and Bellingham SeaFeast
  • Volunteer- International Coastal Cleanup, NSEA Salmon Spotters Training
  • Pledge- Whatcom Water Alliance Water Saving, Scoop Poop
  • Photo Contests- Whatcom Water Week Photo Contest, We Scoop dog photo contest.
