Construction for the Birch Bay Drive Pavement Rehabilitation project is nearly wrapped up for work scheduled in 2023. In the last three weeks, crews have made many accomplishments:
- Sign installation at various locations
- Stormwater outfall repair across from CJ’s Beach House
- Landscaping wall construction on the berm between Lora Lane and Evergreen Lane
- Reconstructing sidewalks, driveways, and pedestrian ramps to be more ADA accessible at the southeast corner of Harborview Drive, in front of the Worldmark Hotel, and Lora Lane
For the remainder of this week, crews will put the final touches on landscape restoration behind sidewalks, repaving asphalt patches in front of the new curb and gutter, and completing new signage and striping for crosswalks. On Wednesday, there will be intermittent sidewalk and driveway closures to accommodate this work, along with daytime closure of the northbound lane for the paving crew.
As a reminder, crews will return to repave Birch Bay Drive in the spring. This work is weather dependent, and we will share details and specific timing a few weeks in advance. Thank you for your patience this summer.
