W. Smith Road will be closed to through traffic between Northwest Drive and Barrett Road starting Monday, October 30. The City of Ferndale will install a new deep sewer main and decommission and remove controls at pump station 15. They anticipate this project will last about a month.

This closure was approved via an ordinance by the Whatcom County Council since it involves an area outside of the Ferndale city limits.
