Diana Bradrick, Whatcom County Auditor, announces an extension to the official filing week for candidates for diking, drainage, ditch, drainage improvement, consolidated drainage improvement, and flood control districts in Whatcom County. Candidate filing began on December 11, 2023 and will continue until 4:30 pm on December 29, 2023. 

To run for office candidates must be registered voters in the State of Washington and own property within the district. Candidates must file a Declaration of Candidacy either by mail, email, fax, or in person at the Whatcom County Auditor’s Office, 311 Grand Ave., Suite 103, Bellingham.  Declarations of Candidacy must be received no later than 4:30 pm on Friday, December 29.
