Lummi Island Ferry Expands COVID-19 Sailing Schedule Starting Oct. 26;
Punch Card Procedures Also Changing at the Same Time
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Oct. 22, 2020
After running on a reduced COVID-19 schedule since March, the Whatcom Chief will resume a more traditional weekday schedule starting on Monday, Oct. 26, with a regular, pre-COVID schedule for the morning and daytime hours, and a revised schedule from 3pm until the final 12:10am sailing from Gooseberry Point.
Also starting Monday, ferry riders will not be able to punch or mark off with a pen their own punch card. Instead, a crew member will punch the cards through a contactless system similar to how riders currently pay with a credit card. Travelers can roll down their car window enough to hold out a punch card, and a ferry crew member will punch the card.
Additional information on the ferry schedule, including restrictions for fueling and fuel trucks only, can be found on the ferry’s website at www.whatcomchief.org, click on schedule.
