Health Department Announces Data Correction

BELLINGHAM, WA -- The Whatcom County Health Department (WCHD) has identified and corrected errors that assigned COVID-19 cases to the wrong sub-county areas. This correction affects both case rates and cumulative counts on sub-county area charts, and updated numbers are included in the September 28 Whatcom County data dashboard update.

WCHD became aware that some cases had been miscategorized during the data entry process, primarily during the last several weeks. The bulk of the cases have now been correctly categorized. The most significant net result is an increase of cases assigned to the Meridian sub-county area.

The overall case count did not change.
