Local Health Organizations Collaborate to Offer One Day Health Fair at the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center on May 21

MAPLE FALLS, WA – On Saturday, May 21, the East Whatcom Regional Resource Center will transform into a healthcare center, offering community members free health, vision, and dental services at the Catherine Mahaffey East Whatcom Wellness Fair.

Local providers including PeaceHealth, Sea Mar Community Health Centers, and many others have come together to offer multiple free services and resources to the community. There will be entertainment, lunch, snacks, and activities specific to children, elders, and folks of all stages and ages of health. 

This event honors the late Catherine Mahaffey, a community member invested in the health and wellbeing of her community, this event will bring much-needed health services to the region free of cost.

Who: All East Whatcom community members. Individuals interested in receiving basic medical screenings, dental procedures, vision checks, and other services and activities are asked to RSVP by visiting Oppco.org or calling 360-599-3944

When: Saturday, May 21, 2022, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m

This event is made possible through the collaboration of the following agencies: Sea Mar 
Community Health Center, PeaceHealth, Medical Teams International, Health Ministries 
Network, Opportunity Council, Whatcom County Health Department, Vision Service Plan, Group Health Foundation, Molina Healthcare of Washington, Northwest Regional Council, and many additional local services providers offering resources, education, and giveaways.

Attendance. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Individuals interested in attending to receive basic medical screenings, dental procedures, vision checks, and other services and activities are requested to RSVP at Oppco.org or call 360-599-3944. Interpretation for Spanish, Russian, and Ukrainian will be available on site.

Volunteers. Volunteers are still needed to support various aspects of the event including;

Cost: This event is free for everyone to attend and no insurance is necessary.

Donations. If you are unable to volunteer at the event but would still like to support it, donations of kid’s bikes, helmets, event tents, and monetary funds are also appreciated. Donations of youth bikes and scooters, ages 2 to 18 years old, can be delivered to the Opportunity Council’s East Whatcom Regional Resource Center to be used in a safety course run by Whatcom Smart Trips.
