The Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA) requires the County to periodically review and revise its comprehensive plan under RCW 36.70A.130(1). Additionally, the GMA requires review of urban growth areas (UGAs) under RCW 36.70A.130(3). Therefore, Whatcom County has initiated a multi-year project to update its Comprehensive Plan. Whatcom County is required to complete this review by June 30, 2016.

The Whatcom County Planning Commission is holding a series of meetings in 2015 as part of the periodic update of the Whatcom County Comprehensive Plan and the UGA review, which are both required by the GMA under RCW 36.70A.130. The Planning Commission’s next meeting will include a work session regarding:

• Chapter 11 of the Whatcom County Comprehensive Plan, entitled “Environment.”

This work session will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. in the County Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham. The public is invited to submit written comments and/or attend the work session to provide oral comments. Written comments may be submitted to:
